Q: What methods of payment are accepted?

Q: Is the ticket tax deductible/do you get a tax receipt?
No, there is no tax receipt issued and the ticket is not tax deductible
Q: Must the ticket purchaser and the name on the ticket be over the age of 18 years?
Q: Can tickets be put in the name of a corporation or business?
Yes. Should the ticket be a winner, the prize is then awarded to the corporation or business and the person who claims the prize must be able to prove that he/she is an authorized officer of that company.
Q: Can I choose a specific ticket number?
No. Ticket numbers are consecutive and computer generated.
Q: How many names can be put on a ticket?
Should a purchaser want to put anymore than 2 names on a ticket, it is recommended that the purchaser keep record of who is involved with the purchase. The Licencee and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission will not be responsible for any conflict between joint ticket purchases. In the event of a winning ticket stub having more than one name the lottery will award the prize to any individual whose name appears first on the stub. The Licencee and Alberta Gaming & Liquor Commission are not responsible for resolving any disputes, which may arise from the different individuals.
Q: Can orders be placed from people outside the province of Alberta?
Any purchaser who RESIDES OUTSIDE ALBERTA BUT IS WITHIN THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA at the time of purchase may purchase a ticket. The ticket can be mailed to any address (even outside of Alberta).
Q: Who cannot purchase tickets?
Contest guidelines prohibit the following people and their immediate families from purchasing tickets in the lottery: Executive members of the Covenant Foundation Board of Trustees & Governors; Covenant Health’s Board of Directors, Covenant Health’s Senior Executive Team, employees of the Covenant Foundation, staff of Stride Management Corp, staff of Calder Bateman Communications Ltd.; and anyone under the age of 18. The Licensee will advise all purchasers not to include the name of anyone under the age of 18 on the ticket due to the requirements of the Public Trustee Act.
Protecting Against Fraud
Q: How will I know if a call or email I receive is fraudulent?

We only send emails from Caritas DreamLife Lottery email@example.com. DreamLife will NEVER ask winners to provide their credit card number, additional payment or ask to collect any funds for taxes or shipping of any prizes… this is not an official DreamLife call.
Q: What to do if you receive an email from someone posing as DreamLife lottery and asking for your personal/credit card information?
If you receive any emails from a source other than the one listed above, which directs you to a different site, please:
- do not click on any links within the suspect email, and
- let us know immediately by forwarding the email to DreamLife Customer Service at firstname.lastname@example.org so we are aware and can take appropriate actions.
- Do not provide any personal and/or credit card information
Q: What to do if you receive a call/email from someone saying you have won a prize from DreamLife lottery but you need to obtain a store (Walmart) gift card; send payment; or give a credit card number to cover taxes or shipping?
DreamLife will NEVER ask winners to provide their credit card number, additional payment or ask to collect any funds for taxes or shipping of any prizes… this is not an official DreamLife call.
Document as much information as possible from the caller and report it to DreamLife Lottery Customer Service at email@example.com for further investigation.
The customer can also call the Government of Canada Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 to report the fraud attempt.
Privacy & Personal Information
Q: What is done with my personal information?
The Covenant Foundation, Calder Bateman Communications Ltd. and Stride Management Corp. respect your privacy. We do not rent, sell or trade our mailing lists. The personal information collected by the Covenant Foundation will be used to process ticket orders, notify winners, to contact you regarding ongoing and future lotteries, and to contact you about future Foundation events and programs. The names, cities and winning ticket numbers of all winners will posted on the Caritas Dreamlife Lottery website: www.dreamlifelottery.win and on social media. If you do not wish to be contacted by the Foundation please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1-888-944-2774.
Q: What is done with my credit card information?
The credit card information you provide when purchasing DreamLife Lottery tickets is used to process your order but is not stored.
Q: Does the new Canadian Anti Spam Legislation (CASL) affect lotteries?
Under CASL, charities are considered exempt when sending Commercial Electronic Messages (CEM) for the primary purpose of raising funds for that charity. Our primary purpose for sending Commercial Electronic Messages (CEM) is to raise funds for Covenant Foundation, a registered charity under the Income Tax Act.

Q: When will the winners list be posted?
All winners will be published on the Caritas DreamLife Lottery website within 10 days of the Final Draw.
Q: How are winners notified and the prizes awarded?
Once draws have been completed prize letters will be mailed out 2-3 weeks following the draws. The prize letter informs the winner of what they have won and where and when to pick up their prize. They must have the prize letter and I.D. to claim the prize. All prizes must be accepted as awarded there will be no cash substitutions. (see PROTECTING AGAINST FRAUD section)
Q: What happens if I lose my ticket or I can’t find it?
You do not need your ticket to claim your prize. We have all the necessary information to verify the winner. Your name, address & phone number is recorded in the database along with your ticket number. If you have a winning ticket number, you will receive your prize letter to claim your prize.

Since 1994, the lottery has raised $22 million which has been granted to Covenant Health in support of its mission to serve with compassion, upholding the sacredness of life in all stages, and caring for the whole person - body, mind and soul. The Caritas DreamLife Lottery and the public support of the lottery has made a significant difference in the delivery of quality healthcare in Edmonton, and will continue to be critical in the future.

Q: Where do proceeds from the Caritas DreamLife Lottery go?
Proceeds go to Covenant Foundation, who raises funds to support Covenant Health facilities —providing vital care for thousands of Alberta patients, residents and families at Grey Nuns, Misericordia and Edmonton General.
Net proceeds from the 2017 lottery will support vital emergency services at the Grey Nuns and Misericordia hospitals, helping dedicated Emergency Room teams in doing everything they can when you and your loved ones need it most.
